Full-time faculty position in the School of Nursing

Qualification Standards
Education: Earned doctorate in nursing strongly preferred, MSN required.

Experience: A minimum of two years experience as a registered nurse within the immediate past five years or successful completion of a competency based reentry program acceptable to the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Experience in the clinical or functional area of responsibility. Experience in the application of principles in teaching and learning. Medical-surgical experience preferred.

Values: The nurse faculty must be sympathetic with the mission and purpose of Kentucky Christian University and enthusiastically support the University’s core values. The nurse faculty must be a self-starter who inspires excellence in others by her/his own work ethic. The nurse faculty must accept ownership of her/his area of responsibility and provide leadership throughout the School of Nursing.

Licensure: The nurse faculty must hold a current license or temporary work permit to practice as a registered nursing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Church Affiliation: The nurse faculty shall be an active member of a congregation within the fellowship of Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.

Conditions of Employment
1. Full-time faculty position on a 10-month contract, with summer responsibilities as delineated by Dean.
2. Salary Range: based on credentials and professional experience.

4. The successful candidate must be an active member of a congregation in the Stone-Campbell Restoration Tradition (e.g. Christian Church and/or Churches of Christ).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. A full-time faculty member will be expected to teach fifteen credit hours per semester (a maximum of 30 credits annually). Summer responsibilities may also be required, including teaching three credit hours during the summer.
2. Represent the School of Nursing on University and School of Nursing committees.
3. Participate in KCU meetings and committees.
4. Participation in YSN departmental meetings.
5. Participation in continuous quality improvements for the YSN.
6. Develop, instruct, evaluate, and revise nursing didactic courses and clinical experiences.
7. Be responsible and accountable for no more than 10 prelicensure nursing students at any one time in a clinical experience.
8. Be actively involved in student recruitment and retention efforts.
9. Promotion of KCU’s culture and mission.
10. Be actively involved with students outside of the classroom.
11. Maintain and comply with all policies, rules, and regulations included in the KCU Faculty Handbook, YSN Faculty Handbook, KBN regulations, the University’s clinical affiliates, and AACN/CCNE procedures and guidelines.
