Henshaw Christian Church-Senior Pastor


Henshaw Christian Church of Henshaw, Kentucky, is a non-denominational Christian church seeking a new senior pastor who is a follower of Jesus Christ and a committed Christian; who understands if we build strong family’s we will build a strong multi-generational church.


Henshaw Christian Church is located in a rural area and is a church of contemporary worship with strong traditional values. Our current attendance averages between 90-120 people. Our core values are Bible authority, Jesus leadership, New Covenant, Cultural relevance, and serving gifted. We are centrally located 10 miles from Shawneetown, Illinois, Sturgis and Morganfield, Kentucky.


The senior pastor’s primary role is to lead the church in the effort to make disciples and to lead those disciples to a place of spiritual maturity. He shall be faithful in the Word, full of the Holy Spirit, and able to utilize the spiritual gifts of the congregation. He shall be able to work alongside a youth pastor.


Some expectations of the senior pastor are as follows:

- Exhibit the Godly character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
- Devoted to his marriage/family
- Ability to work cooperatively with a board of Elders
- Self-starter, Self-motivated, and well ordered in his personal life
- Effective communicator, easily approachable, and model transparency in his life
- Outgoing, morally-grounded, humble in heart, and passionate about teaching the Bible
- Act as a “fisherman” with a passion for the unsaved and for outreach
- Ensure spiritual care is provided for those who are in personal crisis
- Oversees pastoral function of baptisms, weddings, funerals, and child dedications

Education and Experience:

- Post secondary education from Bible college or seminary(preferable Bachelor’s degree)
- 2-5 years pastoral experience
- Experience with youth pastor (preferred)
- Skills in new technology and web use
- Experience in family life ministry and/or counseling (preferred)
